Deeside Way Ultra Race
The Deeside Way Ultra Race is an out and back running event covering a distance of approximately 33 miles. The course starts and finishes at Duthie Park in Aberdeen, following the path of the old Deeside Railway Line out to Banchory before returning to the start point.
Participants must be at least 18 years old on the day of the event. The race is conducted as a pre-entry event, and the field is limited to 200 places. Runners can register under Female, Male, or Non-Binary categories.
The course features the following support points:
- 8 miles: Water station and drop bag point
- 16.5 miles: Halfway water station and drop bag point
- 25 miles: Water station and drop bag point
To reduce waste, this is a cupless event. Runners must bring their own bottles or cups to be filled at the water stations. Drop bags must be no larger than a large freezer zip bag and clearly marked with the runner's race number.
The event enforces specific safety requirements and mandatory kit. Due to potential weather conditions in March, all participants must carry a hat, gloves, full waterproof jacket and trousers, and a foil blanket. Two time-based cut-off points are in place at the 16.5-mile and 25-mile marks to ensure the safety of runners and the event team. Support runners are not permitted on the course.
