Dead of Night 12 Miler
Dead of Night 12 Miler is a nighttime running event organized by The Running Birds at Shoal Creek Park in Montevallo, Alabama. The course is a 12 mile route made up of two 6 mile loops. Trails on the course include gravel, grass, and dirt, and the route is mostly flat with minimal elevation change.
The event is held during the darkest part of the night, so participants are expected to run with a headlamp and spare batteries. An aid station will be located at the start and finish area and will be passed at roughly mile 6 and mile 12; it will offer water, an electrolyte drink, and light snacks. A medical tent, first aid supplies, and an AED will be available on site.
Race day check-in takes place at the pavilion near the main parking lot; runners receive a race bib and a custom event t shirt at check-in. All ages are welcome. Finishers who complete the 12 mile course receive a custom finisher medal. The top three male and top three female finishers receive custom awards. Entry is listed with an available price of 72.62 USD and the event is described as rain or shine. No refunds are available, but entries may be transferred or deferred through the organizer.
