Dead of Night 12 Miler - Montevallo, AL
The Dead of Night 12 Miler is a night running event held on January 23, 2027, at Shoal Creek Park in Montevallo, Alabama. The event covers a total distance of 12 miles, arranged as two 6 mile loops.
The course follows trails of gravel, grass, and dirt and is described as mostly flat with minimal elevation change. All ages are welcome to participate. Organizers provide a race bib and a custom event t-shirt at check-in, and a custom finisher’s medal is awarded upon completion of the full 12 mile course. Top three male and top three female finishers receive custom awards.
An aid station will be located at the start/finish area and will include water, an electrolyte drink, and light snacks; runners will pass this station at mile 6 and again at mile 12. A medical tent, first aid supplies, and an AED will be available on site. Parking and restroom access are provided near the main pavilion where race day check-in takes place.
Organizers note January weather averages near a high of 55 and a low of 35 degrees Fahrenheit in the region and state the event will proceed rain or shine. Participants are encouraged to bring a headlamp and extra batteries. No refunds are issued; entries may be transferred or deferred. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
