Christmas Classic 5k
The Christmas Classic 5k is scheduled for December 19, 2026 at Oak Mountain State Park near Double Oak Lake in Pelham, Alabama. The program includes a main 5K race, a separate 5K registration category for ages 12 and under, and a kids obstacle course called the Candy Cane Challenge held after the 5K. Child participation is encouraged.
There are two finish line options. One finish line includes a Polar Plunge that requires a $20 donation, with all proceeds directed to the Alabama Wildlife Center at Oak Mountain State Park. The second finish line is for participants who do not take the plunge.
On event day participants can expect an Alabama Wildlife Center predator flyover at the start, opportunities to meet birds and other local animals, a post race brunch, and awards for the tackiest sweater. The first 200 registrants will receive custom Christmas Classic 5K swag.
The organizer describes the event as cupless, with reusable race cups provided through sponsor SouthernBiotech for Finish Line Events. All participants and attendees are required to pay a $5 admission gate fee to Oak Mountain State Park.
