Day of the Dead Half Marathon: Texas Parks Edition - San Marcos, TX
The Day of the Dead Half Marathon: Texas Parks Edition takes place on October 3, 2026 at Tanger Outlets in San Marcos, Texas. The course runs through parks and green belts and uses mixed surfaces that can include pavement, crushed granite and dirt paths. Aid stations are located on course to provide water and assistance.
Distances offered include:
- Kids Dash about 20 yards for ages 10 and under
- 1 Mile
- 5K (3.11 miles)
- Quarter Marathon (6.55 miles)
- Half Marathon (13.1 miles)
- Volunteer then Run (3.11 miles)
- Virtual Run (13.1 miles)
Chip timing is used for the 5K, Quarter Marathon and Half Marathon. The 1 Mile and Kids Dash are not chip timed. Standard age group awards are offered across multiple age bands, with 1st overall trophies for top finishers and special recognition pins for masters categories. A detailed awards structure includes age group pins for youth through 70 plus.
A pre race costume contest is judged for creativity, authenticity and overall impact, with a Day of the Dead Best Costume Award and prize package. A post race rally tent hosts music, awards announcements, and refreshments. Packet pickup is offered before the event and a shirt guarantee cutoff is ten days prior.
