About the race
The Day of the Dead Half Marathon is an organized running event at Tanger Outlets in San Marcos, Texas, presented by Bigfoot Running Company. The main race covers 13.1 miles on a course that follows paved roadways through the surrounding community; mixed surfaces such as pavement, crushed granite, or dirt may occur. Aid stations are located along the course to provide water and assistance.
A pre-race costume contest evaluates participants on creativity and authenticity and awards the Day of the Dead Best Costume Award and a prize package just before the race. A post-race rally at Tanger Outlets includes music, refreshments, live awards announcements, and finisher recognition. Participants receive race tee shirts and finisher medals; shirt size guarantee is set at ten days before the event.
Options and services include volunteer roles, a Volunteer then Run option that combines pre-race volunteer duties with participation in the 5K, and a full race volunteer program that offers a race shirt, souvenir medal subject to availability, VIP access, and a free future race entry or a $20 digital gift card. Standard age group awards and overall trophies are offered for timed events. Packet pickup is offered in the period before the event start and results and awards are posted at the registration tent immediately following finishers.
