Event overview
The Dash for the Derby is a 5K road race held in Portland, Maine. The 2026 edition is scheduled for Saturday, May 2, 2026, at Marathon Sports, 309 Marginal Way, Portland, ME 04101. Walkers are welcome. The race is organized to make donations to the charity A Running Passion. Entry, logistics and results
Registration fees change by date: a "wicked early bird" price of $28 is available through September 30, an early-bird price of $32 runs through February 28, 2026, higher rates apply thereafter, and there is a race-day fee. Registrants by April 1 are guaranteed a race singlet, while singlets are available afterward as supplies allow. Race pickup and race day sign-up occur at Marathon Sports on Marginal Way. Participants should use the park-and-ride on Marginal Way to preserve parking for Marathon Sports customers. Cash prizes are offered for overall winners, with additional awards in age-group and team categories. Past results pages note timing by Pine Tree Race Services. The race has a no-refund policy; in the event of catastrophic weather, a public health crisis, or other events beyond race management control the organizers will attempt to reschedule or convert the event to a virtual format where participants submit their results.
