Dash for the Derby 5K : Portland, ME
The Dash for the Derby is a community 5K event held on May 2, 2026, at Marathon Sports, 309 Marginal Way, Portland, Maine. The event welcomes walkers and runners on Kentucky Derby Day and donates proceeds to the organization "A Running Passion."
Entry fees follow tiered pricing: a wicked early bird rate of $28 for registrations by September 30, an early bird rate of $32 through February 28, $35 thereafter, and $39 on race day. Registrants by April 1 are guaranteed a race singlet while supplies last. The race awards cash prizes to overall winners and presents awards in age groups and team categories.
Race pickup and on-site registration take place at Marathon Sports on Marginal Way. Post-race refreshments and an awards ceremony are held at Marathon Sports immediately following the event. Organizers request use of the park and ride on Marginal Way to preserve parking spaces for Marathon Sports customers.
The event has a no refunds policy. In the event of catastrophic weather, a public health crisis, or other extreme circumstances beyond race management control, organizers will attempt to reschedule the event; if rescheduling is not possible the race may be converted to a virtual format where participants run the course and submit results independently.
