Dash Around the Point 5k & 10k
Dash Around the Point is a chip timed running event held at Hains Point in Washington, DC. The event offers two measured routes along a paved road around Hains Point, both described as flat and fast with sweeping views of the Potomac River, the Wharf, and frequent plane sightings from National Airport.
Available distances:
- 5 km out and back once
- 10 km out and back twice
Walkers and strollers are welcome. A virtual race option is available for participants who cannot attend in person. Registered runners receive a finisher’s coin, a technical drifit event shirt, and chip timing. The event benefits Team RWB DC.
There are water stations placed along the courses; the 10 km has five stations at approximate mile markers 1, 2.1, 3.1, 4.1, and 5.2, and the 5 km has two stations at about mile 1 and 2.1. Some stations will offer Gatorade. Port a johns are provided in a parking lot near the start and finish.
Results are posted live on Athlinks and final results with series points are published after the event. Awards are given to the top three men and women overall and to first and second in standard age groups. The event participates in Bishop’s Events series scoring including Year Long and Winter Series and lists a Back of the Pack pace of 11:00.
