Event overview
The Burke Lake Turkey Trot is a Thanksgiving morning running event at Burke Lake Park in Fairfax Station, VA on November 27, 2026. The event is organized by Bishops Events and offers both in-person and a virtual run option. Proceeds benefit Lucky Dog Animal Rescue. The race awards points toward the Year-Long 5k, 10k, Back of the Pack series, and the Fall Series.

Course and aid stations
The course combines paved roads and trails. The first and last half mile of each distance are on paved roads. The trail section has some roots but is fairly well maintained and has no major elevation gains. The 10k has three water stations at about mile 0.5, 3.1, and 5.7. The 5k has two water stations at about mile 0.5 and 2.6. Gatorade is available at some stations.
Logistics and awards
This is a chip-timed event. Participants receive a finisher medal and a technical Dri-Fit event shirt; shirts are guaranteed for registrations made before November 13. Packet pickup is available at the event; race day registration is also offered but shirt sizes cannot be guaranteed for day-of registrants. Registration fees listed: 5k $30 (until Nov 15), 10k $45 (until Nov 15); prices increase after those dates and increase by $5 on race morning. Live results are posted on Athlinks and final results with series points are posted the Monday after the race. Top 3 men and women overall are awarded, plus 1st and 2nd in standard age categories; overall top 3 are not eligible for age-group awards. Restrooms are located by the ice cream parlor.
