Darwin's Challenge Aquathlon 2026
The Darwin's Challenge Aquathlon is a multi-sport event held at Shrewsbury School in Shropshire. The competition combines pool swimming and running across several age categories, including adults, youths, and juniors. All participants navigate the swim portion of the event in a 25m flat-form swimming pool located within the school grounds.
The running section is conducted on a traffic-free course consisting of tarmac and gravel paths situated inside the premises of Shrewsbury School. The event requires advanced booking, as no entries are accepted on the day of the race. Participants are required to bring specific equipment, including swimming goggles, a swim hat, running shoes, and a shirt for attaching the race number.
The event offers varied distances based on age groups:
- Adult & Youth: 400m swim and 5km run
- Tristart (8 years): 50m swim and 600m run
- Tristart 1 (9-10 years): 150m swim and 1000m run
- Tristart 2 (11-12 years): 200m swim and 2000m run
- Tristart 3 (13-14 years): 300m swim and 3000m run
- Youth (15-16 years): 400m swim and 5000m run
