Event Overview

The Darwin's Challenge Aquathlon 2026 is an aquathlon event for adults, youth, and juniors. It takes place on Monday, 4th May, 2026, at Shrewsbury School in Kingsland. The event features an indoor swim in a 25-meter pool, followed by a run.

Course Details

The swimming portion is an indoor swim in a 25-meter pool. For juniors, the run consists of traffic-free loops on a flat course on tarmac and gravel paths. For adults and youth, the run is described as fast and flat within the school grounds on a mixture of tarmac and gravel paths.

Distances

  • Adult & Youth (15/16yrs and over): 400m swim and a 5k run.
  • Junior Tristart (age on 31 Dec 2026): Distances vary by age group: 50m swim & 600m run (8yrs), 150m swim & 1000m run (9/10yrs), 200m swim & 2000m run (11/12yrs), 300m swim & 3000m run (13/14yrs).

Registration & Logistics

Registration takes place in the sports hall. Registration for the Adult & Youth event is from 8:15 am to 9:15 am. Junior (Tristart) registration is from 9:30 am to 10:45 am. There are no entries allowed on the day of the event.

Parking is free on Ashton Road or surrounding roads, but parking is not permitted on the school premises. Participants are advised to bring specific gear, including a swimming costume, goggles, swimming hat, running shoes, a t-shirt, a towel, and safety pins or a race belt.

Other Information

The event requires athletes to have a race license; the cost is included in the entry price. Members of Triathlon England/Triathlon Wales can receive a refund of this fee upon presenting a current membership card at registration. The organizer is SYTri.
