About the race
The Danvers Police D.A.R.E. 5K Road Race is the third annual community running event held at Danvers High School in Danvers, MA on May 16, 2027. Proceeds from the event directly benefit the Danvers Police Department’s D.A.R.E. program.
The event offers opportunities to run or walk and includes a separate children’s distance. Registration opens December 1, 2026 and closes May 16, 2027. Listed registration fees are $40.00 for the 5K and $20.00 for the Kids Run.
D.A.R.E. is a prevention program that teaches students positive ways to say no to drugs and violence. The program is presented through a partnership of the Danvers Police Department, business and community leaders, parents, and teachers. The D.A.R.E. curriculum emphasizes life skills such as dealing with peer pressure, addressing bullying, managing stress, developing problem solving skills, and building self-esteem. Funds raised by the race are used to support delivery of the D.A.R.E. curriculum and to support other community events that promote healthy interactions between youths and police officers.
