Dalby's Inferno
Dalby's Inferno is a looped forest ultramarathon held in Dalby Forest that in 2026 runs its sixth year and raises funds for the Scarborough and Ryedale Mountain Rescue team. The event comprises ten circuits of a 5.5 km trail loop, giving a total distance of 55 km.
Each circuit must be completed within one hour to continue to the next circuit. Runners who complete nine circuits gain entry to the tenth circuit. The route is fully signed and marshalled on the day and will not be published beforehand. The trail is described as not exactly flat and travels through forest terrain.
The entry fee includes event entry, free entry to Dalby Forest (normally charged by vehicle), and two nights camping at Adderstone on the Friday and Saturday before and during the event. Camping is in the same field as the start and finish, with toilets and fresh water but no showers; hard standing is available for campervans. One tent or campervan is permitted per entry.
Supporters may camp in the same field. There is an area at the start and finish for resting and refuelling between laps. Hot food and drinks are available to purchase on the day. No dogs are allowed on the run; well controlled dogs may camp. Minimum age is 16. No deferrals or refunds are offered. An optional entry protection product is available.
