Dalby Forest Headtorch Challenge
The event is a night trail race on single-track trails through Dalby Forest, using routes that are mostly unused by the public and that include sections opened specifically for this event. The format involves running in the dark and participants should expect muddy conditions.
Registration takes place at the Dalby Forest Visitor Centre, Visitors Centre, Dalby Forest Dr, Low Dalby, Pickering YO18 7LT. Entry is online only and there will be no on-the-night entries. The entry fee is £19.00 plus a booking fee of £1.90. The organiser has set an overall entry limit of 650 due to parking restrictions at the Visitor Centre; registration will close when that number is reached. Online entries close on 19/01/2027 at 11:45am.
For insurance purposes the minimum age is 16 years on the night. Headtorches or hand-held torches are required for running in the dark; headtorches are not sold on the night and can be purchased online from around £15.00. Awards are given to the first five male and first five female finishers, and finishers will receive medals as a new feature for 2027.
