CVRR Backyard Ultra 2026
The 7th annual CVRR Backyard Ultra takes place on July 25, 2026 at the Comox Valley Exhibition Grounds, 4839 Headquarters Rd, Courtenay, BC V9J 1P2, Canada. The course runs through forests and fields within the exhibition grounds.
The event follows the Backyard Ultra format: every hour, on the hour, runners start a marked loop of 6.706 km. Each subsequent lap must begin exactly at the top of the next hour and this pattern continues until a runner is no longer willing or able to continue. Runners who stop may remain on site to watch others complete additional laps.
For 2026 a maximum of 30 yards/30 hours is imposed for all runners. If more than one runner completes 30 yards, a tie will be decided by a Mystery Challenge at the Start-Finish area on Sunday, July 26. The event notes there will be only one finisher.
The distance of 6.706 km is defined as a yard and 24 yards equals exactly 100 miles over 24 hours. The organizing committee states efforts were made to set the route distance accurately but individual yards may not be exact.
Team category: runners may register as part of a 3 to 5 person team. Team members start together but run individually; the team result is the total of members' laps. Awards are planned for the most yards by a team, best costumes and special team draw prizes.
On-site camping with water and electricity is available for the nights of Friday and Saturday at a fee of CA$39.66 per night.
