CVRR Backyard Ultra - July 25, 2026
The 7th annual CVRR Backyard Ultra takes place on Saturday, July 25, 2026 at the Comox Valley Exhibition Grounds, 4839 Headquarters Rd, Courtenay, BC V9J 1P2, Canada. The event uses a looped course that runs through forests and fields inside the exhibition grounds.
Race format
Runners follow a marked loop of 6.706 km, called a "yard". Each lap begins exactly at the top of the next hour. Entrants run as many laps as they wish, starting each subsequent lap on the hour, and stop when they are no longer willing or able to continue. The event imposes a maximum of 30 yards (30 hours) for all runners. If more than one runner completes 30 yards, the final finisher is decided by a tie-breaking Mystery Challenge at the Start-Finish area. There is only one official finisher.
Teams, camping and other details
A team category allows groups of 3 to 5 people. Team members start together but run individually; team results are the total laps completed by all members. Prizes are planned for the team with the most yards, best costumes, and special team draw prizes. On-site camping is available for Friday and Saturday nights with water and electricity included; the listed camping fee is CA$39.66 per night. The organisers note that 6.706 km is the target yard distance and that 24 yards equals exactly 100 miles over 24 hours, though each lap may not measure exactly to that distance.
