A one-mile on-road race in Courtenay on Canada Day that follows the parade route along 5th Street. Registration closes June 30 and bib pick-up is available the day before and on race day; no official chip timing.

Canada Day 5th Street Mile 2026

The event takes place on July 1, 2026, in Courtenay. The course follows the parade route, running down 5th Street before the parade. The distance is 1 mile and the format is family-oriented with an on-road mile course.

Registration closes on June 30 at 9:00 pm. There are no race day registrations. Bib pick-up is available the day before at FOVEO Running and on race day at the Lake Trail Community School parking lot (805 Willemar Ave., Courtenay).

There is no official timing system. A timer over the finish chute will display the elapsed time since the race start. Refreshments, draw prizes, and awards take place immediately after the race at Simms Millennium Park. All children receive a freezie award.

For safety reasons, dogs, bikes, and skateboards are not permitted on the course. Strollers are required to start at the back of the field. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
