Cuyamaca 100K
The Cuyamaca 100K is a 100 kilometer trail race held in Cuyamaca Rancho State Park near Julian, California, about one hour east of San Diego. The event starts and finishes at Camp Cuyamaca off Highway 79 and the course stays largely within the park boundaries.
The route is organized as three distinct loops that begin and end at Camp Cuyamaca, with minimal backtracking and limited repetition of trails. Each loop follows different trail sets and passes a variety of park terrain.
- First loop: 31.5 miles across the park western side, approaching Cuyamaca Peak at 6500 feet.
- Second loop: 12.6 miles through the southeast corner near Oakzanita Peak.
- Third loop: 18.3 miles through the northern park, briefly leaving into Anza Borrego and following the Pacific Crest Trail with desert views before returning to the park meadows.
The course description notes trail sections, peak approaches, meadow areas, and segments that overlook desert landscapes. The event identifies Camp Cuyamaca as the central hub for loop transitions and the start and finish area. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
