Old West Trail Runs
Old West Trail Runs takes place on March 14, 2026 in the Anza Borrego Desert area near Julian, CA with start and finish at Stagecoach Trails RV Resort and Campground. The event offers multiple trail distances:
- 50K (approximately 31.1 miles)
- Marathon (approximately 26.2 miles)
- Half Marathon (approximately 13.1 miles)
Courses pass through desert and park lands within Anza Borrego Desert State Park. The 50K and marathon courses each list about 2,555 feet of total elevation gain and loss; the half marathon lists about 670 feet. The event is a qualifying race in the SoCal Ultra Series and is presented as the ninth running of these distances.
The campground at the start/finish provides restrooms, hot showers, picnic tables, fire rings, full RV hookups, and Wi Fi access. A race tech shirt is included with entry and medals are given to finishers; shirt quantities may be limited if ordered after mid December. Three full aid stations on the longer courses—Stagecoach Saddle, Blair Valley, and Pinyon Canyon—provide water, sports drink, soda, ice, snacks, fruit, and electrolyte capsules. Crews and spectators are permitted on course only at Blair Valley and Plum Canyon. Runners who leave the course must notify an aid station captain and radio operator at a major aid station.
