Old West Trail Runs : March 14, 2026
Old West Trail Runs offers three distances on March 14, 2026: a 50K, a marathon, and a half marathon. All courses run through Anza Borrego Desert State Park with the start and finish at Stagecoach Trails RV Resort & Campground. The event is a qualifying race in the SoCal Ultra Series.
Distances and elevation
- 50K : 31.1 miles; 2,555 ft total elevation gain and loss
- Marathon : 26.2 miles; 2,555 ft total elevation gain and loss
- Half Marathon : 13.1 miles; 670 ft total elevation gain and loss
The 50K and marathon routes share much of the same course and include out-and-back sections to Plum Canyon. Portions of the route follow the California Riding & Hiking Trail and sandy jeep roads; the course is marked with orange and yellow ribbons.
Aid stations and support
Major aid stations are Stagecoach Saddle, Blair Valley, and Pinyon/Plum Canyon locations. These full aid stations provide water, sport drinks, soda, ice, gels, snacks, PB&J sandwiches, fruit, cookies, and electrolyte capsules. Participants who withdraw must notify the aid-station captain and radio operator at a major aid station and turn in their bib.
Location and facilities
The race base is Stagecoach Trails RV Resort & Campground. The resort lists over 200 campsites, full hookups, restrooms, hot showers, picnic tables, fire rings, free Wi-Fi, rooms and cabins, and allows dogs in camp (dogs are not permitted on state park trails). Trails are maintained by local volunteer groups.
Registration
Registration opens October 1, 2025; registration closes March 12 prior to the event. One technical race shirt is included with entry; shirt sizes may be limited after December 15. Medals are provided to finishers. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
