Event Overview
The Crystal Lake Team Marathon takes place in Beulah, Michigan, featuring a course that circles Crystal Lake. The event offers options for both individual participants and teams to complete the full marathon distance. The course begins and finishes at the east end of the lake, with the start and finish lines located approximately 400 meters apart.
Participation Categories
Participants can choose from several event formats:
- Crystal Lake Solo Marathon: An individual race covering the full 26.2 miles.
- Crystal Lake Team Marathon: Open, Family, and High School categories for groups.
Standard teams consist of five members. In this format, the first four members run 5 miles each, while the fifth member completes the final 6.2 miles. Variations are permitted for teams with fewer than five runners, allowing them to determine how to divide the distance. For the Family Team category, all five members must be related by birth or marriage.
Course Logistics
The race route remains open to public traffic during the event. Teams are responsible for their own transportation between exchange zones. Water stations are positioned at approximately 12 to 15 locations around the course, providing water in cups. No energy gels or electrolyte drinks are provided. Restrooms are available at the start area and at various intervals along the public route.
Schedule and Awards
Packet pickup is held the Friday evening before the race at Beulah Beach. A six-hour cutoff is in place for the marathon distance. In the Family Team division, special awards are presented to the top three finishing groups. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
