Event
The 7th Annual Crystal Lake Half Marathon & 12K takes place on September 6, 2026 at Crystal Lake Main Beach, 300 Lakeshore Drive, Crystal Lake, Illinois. The event includes the following race distances:
- Half Marathon
- 12K (7.44 miles)
The finish is in downtown Crystal Lake.
Course and services
The course starts at Main Beach and passes Lippold Park, the Dole Mansion, and the Prairie Path. The event is a point-to-point venue with bus transportation that takes runners to the start (about a five minute bus ride). Indoor and beach-side warm-up areas are available.
Water stations are provided every 1.5 miles. Gatorade is available at miles 7.5, 9, 10.5, and 12. Bathrooms are located at the start, Mile 5 (porta potty), Mile 11 (Prairie Path building), and the finish (porta potty). EMS and first aid are available along the course, with first aid kits at various water stations. The route is marked with turn arrows on the ground and staffed by course marshals.
An after-race party will include food, beverages, and awards; the party location is to be determined. Additional programs linked to the event include the McHenry County Duo Challenge and a four-week Kids Run This Town program that starts August 3 and includes a 13th mile on race day.
