2026 Crystal Lake Half Marathon & 12K
The event offers two race distances starting near Crystal Lake Main Beach in Crystal Lake, Illinois, and finishing in downtown Crystal Lake. The course is a point to point route that passes Lippold Park, provides a view of the Dole Mansion, includes sections on the Prairie Path, and brings runners into the downtown finish area. The Half Marathon and 12K start locations are close to one another and both finish together.

Organizers provide bus transportation to the start with an approximate five minute ride. Indoor and beach side warm up areas are available. Water stations are positioned every 1.5 miles; Gatorade is supplied at miles 7.5, 9, 10.5, and 12. EMS and first aid kits are available along the course and at selected water stations. Course markings include turn arrows on the ground and course marshals to direct runners. Bathroom facilities are located at the start, Mile 5 (porta potty), Mile 11 (Prairie Path building), and the finish line (porta potty).
The entry fee includes a ticket for one beer or one non alcoholic beverage and a slice of pizza at the Smith Running Academy After Party. Age group awards for 1st through 3rd place in the Half Marathon will be presented at the After Party; the After Party location is listed as TBD. A youth program called Kids Run This Town begins August 3 and asks elementary aged participants to complete 12 training miles over four weeks and run a final mile on race day to earn a finisher medal.
