Crystal Lake Half Marathon & 12K
The 7th Annual Crystal Lake Half Marathon & 12K takes place on September 6, 2026, with race activities centered at Crystal Lake Main Beach in Crystal Lake, Illinois. The event uses a point to point course with both distances finishing together in downtown Crystal Lake.
The course includes a loop around Lippold Park, views of the Dole Mansion, and a section on the Prairie Path. The Half Marathon starts at Main Beach and the 12K begins a few yards from that start. Organizers provide bus transportation to the start with an approximate five minute ride. Indoor and beach side warm up areas are available.

Aid and facilities are provided on course. Water stations occur every 1.5 miles, with Gatorade available at miles 7.5, 9, 10.5 and 12. Bathrooms or portable toilets are located at the start, mile 5, mile 11 and the finish line. EMS and first aid kits are available along the course. The route is marked with turn arrows on the ground and monitored by course marshals.
The entry fee includes a ticket for one beer or one non alcoholic beverage and a slice of pizza at the Smith Running Academy After Party. Age group awards for first through third place for the Half Marathon are presented at the After Party; exact location is listed as TBD.
