7th Annual Crystal Lake Half Marathon & 12K
The 7th Annual Crystal Lake Half Marathon and 12K (7.44 miles) takes place in Crystal Lake, Illinois. This point-to-point event features a course that begins at Crystal Lake Main Beach and ends in downtown Crystal Lake. Participants are transported to the start via a 5-minute bus ride. Indoor buildings and beachside warm-up areas are available for runners prior to the start.
The route includes several local landmarks and natural areas:
- Half Marathon (21.1 km)
- 12K (12 km)
The course passes through Lippold Park, offers views of the Dole Mansion, and includes a section along the Prairie Path. Both distances conclude at the same finish line for a post-race celebration. Water stations are positioned every 1.5 miles along the course. Gatorade is available at specific intervals, including mile markers 7.5, 9, 10.5, and 12.
Facility locations include bathrooms at the start line and mile 11 at the Prairie Path building, with portable toilets available at mile 5 and the finish line. Every participant receives one beverage (choice of beer or non-alcoholic option) and a slice of pizza at the post-race gathering. Age group awards are presented to the top three finishers in the Half Marathon distance.
An associated program for elementary school students allows children to complete a cumulative half marathon distance by running their final mile on race day to earn a finisher medal. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
