Crystal Lake Half Marathon & 12K

The Crystal Lake Half Marathon and 12K takes place on Sunday, September 6, 2026, at Crystal Lake Main Beach in Crystal Lake, Illinois. The event uses a point to point route that starts at the Main Beach area; the 12K begins a short distance from the half marathon start and both distances finish together in downtown Crystal Lake. The course passes Lippold Park, offers views of the Dole Mansion, and runs along the Prairie Path.

Course and on-course services are described as follows. Buses transport participants to the start with an approximate five minute ride. Indoor and beachside warm up areas are available. Water stations are provided every 1.5 miles, with Gatorade at miles 7.5, 9, 10.5, and 12. EMS and first aid resources are available on course; first aid kits are located at various water stations. Bathrooms are located at the start, at mile 5 (porta potty), at mile 11 (Prairie Path building), and at the finish line (porta potty). The course is marked with turn arrows and directed by course marshals.

The entry fee includes a ticket for one beer or one non-alcoholic beverage and one slice of pizza at the Smith Running Academy After Party. Age group awards for 1st through 3rd place in the Half Marathon are presented at the After Party. Event apparel and finisher medals are provided; shirt sizes are not guaranteed after August 11, 2026.
