The 7th Annual Crystal Lake Half Marathon and 12K on September 6, 2026 runs from Crystal Lake Main Beach into downtown Crystal Lake with a bus shuttle to the start. Water stations are placed every 1.5 miles and finishers receive a beverage and pizza.

Crystal Lake Half Marathon and 12K : 2026

The 7th Annual Crystal Lake Half Marathon and 12K takes place on September 6, 2026 at Crystal Lake Main Beach in Crystal Lake, Illinois. The event offers two race distances and a point to point course that finishes in downtown Crystal Lake.

The course route passes Lippold Park, provides a view of the Dole Mansion, includes a stretch on the Prairie Path, and brings runners into downtown for the finish. The Half Marathon starts at Main Beach and the 12K starts a few yards from the half start; both races finish together. Runners are transported by bus to the start with an approximately five minute ride. Inside building and beach side warm up areas are available.

Support and on-course services include water stations every 1.5 miles, Gatorade at miles 7.5, 9, 10.5 and 12, EMS and first aid coverage with first aid kits at several water stations, and course marshals with turn arrows marked on the ground. Bathrooms are located at the start, Mile 5 (porta potty), Mile 11 (Prairie Path building) and the finish line (porta potty).

Race entry includes a ticket for one beer or one non alcoholic beverage and a slice of pizza at the Smith Running Academy after party. Age group awards for 1st through 3rd place in the Half Marathon are presented at the after party. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
