About the race
The Cruel Jewel 100 is a long-distance trail foot race held in the Chattahoochee National Forest around Blue Ridge, Georgia. The course distance is listed as 103.54 miles and is described as a mix of trail and mountain road that includes 20 aid stations and about 33,000 feet of elevation gain and 33,000 feet of loss.
The route runs from Blue Ridge to Blairsville and back, and is composed of roughly 94 miles of trails and 10 miles of mountain roads. Course terrain includes technical single-track, steep ascents and descents, ridge lines, rocks and roots, ferns and old growth poplar trees, an historic steel bridge spanning the Toccoa River, the feature known as the Dragon's Spine, and lush hardwood forest.
The event is organized by DUMAssEvents. Entry requires specific qualifying races or credentials and there are strict cut off times at aid stations for safety. The event is listed as a Western States 100 qualifier and a HARDROCK qualifier. Live tracking and bib assignments are shared the week of the race, and a runners manual for 2027 is scheduled to be available late spring 2027.
