Cruel Jewel 100, Blue Ridge GA
The Cruel Jewel 100 is a 103.54 mile foot race in the Chattahoochee National Forest of the North Georgia Mountains. The course includes about 94 miles of trails and 10 miles of mountain roads, with 20 aid stations along the route. The route runs roughly from Blue Ridge to Blairsville and back.
The course crosses single track that can be technical, ferns and old growth poplar stands, ridge lines, rocks and roots, steep ascents and steeper descents, and an historic steel bridge over the Toccoa River called the Dragon's Spine. Total climb and total descent are each listed as 33,000 feet. The event is organized by DUMAssEvents and is set up for experienced trail runners; there are qualification requirements and cut off times at aid stations for safety. The race is a Western States 100 qualifier and a HARDROCK qualifier. Live tracking and bib assignments are shared the week of the event.
