Coyote Ugly 30K and 50K

The event is a pair of trail races in the Cohutta Wilderness that start and finish at Mulberry Gap Adventure Basecamp in Ellijay, GA. The route begins with nearly two miles of gravel road, then climbs Pinhoti 2 for about four miles to a forest service road and the first aid station. After a short gravel section, runners climb Pinhoti 1 for almost four miles to reach the Bear Creek trail. A 0.2 mile out and back leads to the next aid stop before a climb to the top of Bear Creek, where an aid station precedes the course split.

Course highlights include Bear Creek overlook and Barnes Creek Falls. Distances and climbing totals are given approximately.

  • 30K - approximately 19 miles, 2900 feet of climbing.
  • 50K - approximately 30 miles, 4400 feet of climbing.

Aid stations offer typical ultra fare including water, electrolytes, chips, gummy candies, pb&j, grilled cheese or quesadillas at the top of Bear Creek, avocado tortillas, soda, ginger ale, pickles and other items. Each aid station enforces hard cutoffs. Overall cutoffs require roughly a 20 minute per mile pace, with a 7 hour cutoff for the 30K and a 10 hour cutoff for the 50K. Volunteers staff aid stations, sweep the course and help at the finish; volunteers receive future race entry and event swag. Refund, deferral and credit policies apply to registrations.
