Coyote Ugly 30k & 50k
The Coyote Ugly 30k and 50k take place March 6, 2027, in the Cohutta Wilderness with start and finish at Mulberry Gap Adventure Basecamp in Ellijay, GA. The event is organized by Coyote Ugly Racing and offers two trail distances.
- 30K (approximately 19 miles, 2,900 ft climbing)
- 50K (around 30 miles, 4,400 ft climbing)
Both distances follow the same opening route: nearly 2 miles of gravel road, then a 4 mile climb on Pinhoti 2 to a gravel forest service road and the first aid station. Runners continue less than a mile on gravel before climbing Pinhoti 1 for almost 4 miles to the Bear Creek trail. A 0.2 mile out-and-back leads to the next aid stop, then a climb to the top of Bear Creek with several creek crossings and an aid station before the courses split.
The 30K descends on gravel back to Mulberry Gap, passing Bear Creek overlook and Barnes Creek Falls. The 50K descends briefly on gravel, returns to Bear Creek trail for a loop on rolling double track, passes the trailhead aid station, then climbs back via Pinhoti 1 and the forest service road to the final aid stop and Mulberry Gap.
Aid stations will offer typical ultra fare including water, electrolytes, chips, gummy snacks, pb&j, grilled cheese or quesadillas, avocado tortillas, soda, ginger ale, pickles, and other items. Cutoffs are 7 hours for the 30K and 10 hours for the 50K, which correspond to roughly a 20 minute per mile overall pace; each aid station will enforce hard cutoffs. Volunteers receive future race entry and swag. Refunds are available up to one month before the event; a two year pregnancy deferral for women is offered, and after 30 days out a half credit to a future race is available. Bib transfers are not allowed if there is a waiting list. Registration closes February 26 at 11:59 PM ET. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
