The Mercier Orchards Spiked Apple 5k is a chip-timed 5-kilometre run/walk held at Mercier Orchards in Blue Ridge, Georgia. The event is timed and scored by J3 Timing. Registration is open to a wide age range and includes an option to volunteer and run. A virtual participation option is available; packets can be shipped for an additional shipping and handling charge.
Details and logistics
The course is described as a scenic tour of Mercier Orchards and uses a mix of roads and trails; it is suitable for both walkers and runners. Registration packages include a t-shirt, a shatterproof collapsible glass, a finisher medal, a chip-timed race bib, results posted online, a homemade cider donut, and a pour of cider. I.D. is required to receive 21+ beverages. Minors receive a discounted registration package that does not include the cider glass or pour.
Top three male and female finishers in each age category receive a custom age group award. Age categories are in 10-year bands from 1-9 up to 80 and over. Awards must be collected on the day of the event at the registration table; they are not available for shipment. Pets are not permitted in the U-Pick areas.
