Crooked Road 24 Hour Ultra
The Crooked Road 24 Hour Ultra is a timed endurance event held at Waid Park, 701 Waid Park Road, Rocky Mount, Virginia. The course is a USATF certified loop of 1.178 miles (VA17001BDS) on a mostly flat, non-paved cinder surface. Chip timing is used to record laps and distances.
The event offers multiple entry formats, including solo runners, relay teams, and partial solo segments as alternatives to a continuous 24 hour attempt. Relay teams consist of two to four members; teams can change runners at any time, run in any order, and combine consecutive or non-consecutive laps.
Awards are given for the longest distance covered during the full 24 hour period and for the most laps in several time segments, including a four-hour segment, a twelve-hour midday-evening segment, and an eight-hour overnight segment. Runners may start and stop within the 24 hour window according to their chosen entry format.
Participants are advised that the surface is cinder and mostly flat; gaiters are suggested as potentially helpful. The event uses chip timing and the certified loop to measure laps and overall distance. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
