Radford University Tartan 5k
The Radford University Tartan 5k is a twilight running event held in Roanoke, Virginia. Sponsored by Radford University's health science campus, the race takes place at River's Edge Park-North and follows a route along the Roanoke Greenway. The event is designed to celebrate the healthcare community and offers both in-person and virtual participation options.

Participants are invited to wear scrubs to honor healthcare professionals or kilts to represent Highlander pride. The race is open to runners and walkers of all ages, and the use of strollers and the presence of dogs are permitted. The event includes a pre-race party held prior to the start. The 5k course is chip-timed, and awards are presented to the first, second, and third place male and female finishers in several age categories including 18-30, 40-49 (Masters), and 50+ (Grandmasters). Additional recognitions include the Highlander Tartan Spirit Award and awards for the youngest and oldest finishers.
Registered participants receive a finisher medal, a swag bag, and a cup of tropical ice. Race t-shirts are guaranteed for the first 150 participants who register by August 15, 2026. Packet pick-up is scheduled for the two days preceding the event at locations including Radford University Carilion and Run About Sports. Registration discounts are available for Radford University students, faculty, staff, alumni, and current healthcare workers after the early bird period.
