The Spilman Thomas & Battle Jaunt for Justice 5K
The Jaunt for Justice 5K is a community benefit event hosted in Roanoke at River's Edge Sports Complex - North using the Roanoke River Greenway. The event supports the Legal Aid Society of Roanoke Valley, a 501(c)(3) organization that provides legal services to people who could not otherwise afford them and works to protect marginalized individuals from abuse and exploitation.
The event format includes these distances:
- 5K run or walk on an out-and-back course.
- Virtual 5K option where participants choose their own route.
- 0.5K Kids' Fun Run (approximately 0.31 mile) on the greenway.
Virtual participants are not eligible for medals and are not chip-timed, but they receive a race packet with event T-shirt and bib. All in-person kids' fun run participants receive a finisher medal. Race timing for the in-person 5K is provided by a designated timing company.
Race packet pickup is scheduled the day before the event at Runabout Sports Roanoke. The in-person 5K includes one raffle entry per participant; additional entries may be purchased at the registration table and winners must be present to claim prizes. A local coffee vendor will be on-site after the event offering hot coffee and donuts.
