Crazy Bear Ultra
Crazy Bear Ultra is a trail event held at Great Bear Ski Valley near Sioux Falls, SD. The event offers three race distances run as repeated loops around the ski area.
- Crazy Bear 50k
- Crazy Bear 30k
- Crazy Bear 20k
The course uses a roughly 10k loop that includes trails built by FAST and many of the original Great Bear trails. Each loop has nearly 1200 ft of elevation gain. Races are completed by running the number of loops needed for the chosen distance, for example two, three, or five loops.
All races start and finish near the Bear Den Chalet by the ski hill. An aid station and drop bag area will be located at that same place so runners can access support at the end of each loop. A tarp will hold drop bags; runners must label their own bags and organizers do not actively monitor personal items.
A brief pre race briefing will be held at the start line ten minutes before each race; runners must check in at packet pickup before the announcements begin. Packet pickup details are to be determined. Registration closes July 4, 2026. Swag for 2026 is to be determined and will feature a crazy bear logo; signing up by June 10 helps guarantee swag.
