Crazy Bear Ultra : Event details
Crazy Bear Ultra is a trail running event held at Great Bear Ski Valley near Sioux Falls, SD. The event offers three race distances that are run as repeated loops on the same course. Each loop is a roughly 10k circuit that uses new FAST (Fall Area Single Track) trails and original Great Bear trails, with nearly 1200 feet of elevation gain per loop.
Race distances:
- 50k (multiple 10k loops)
- 30k (multiple 10k loops)
- 20k (multiple 10k loops)
All races start and finish near the Bear Den (Chalet) at the ski hill. An aid station and drop bag area are located at that same start/finish area, and runners can access the aid station at the end of every loop. A tarp will hold drop bags off to the side of the aid station; runners must label their own bags and organizers do not monitor these items. Packet pickup details are to be determined. A brief pre-race announcement will take place at the start line shortly before each race; runners must check in at packet pickup on race day before the announcements.
Registration closes July 4 at 11:59 PM CT, and organizers note a signup deadline of June 10 to guarantee event swag. Swag for 2026 is to be determined and will feature a Crazy Bear logo. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
