Avera Race Against Cancer - Sioux Falls
The Avera Race Against Cancer in Sioux Falls is a community event that raises funds for patient services at the Avera Cancer Institute. The event includes in-person runs and walks that start and finish at the GreatLIFE Fitness Club at Avera McKennan Fitness Center, 3400 S. Southeastern Ave., Sioux Falls, SD.
Participants can choose among multiple course options:
- 1.5-mile family walk
- 3-mile walk
- Chip-timed 5K run
- Chip-timed 10K run
There is also a virtual race option and a Sideline Supporter category. The 5K and 10K runs are chip-timed, with awards for the top three male and female finishers in each distance. Timing chips are included on race bibs for those runs. Water stations are placed on the 5K and 10K routes, at the finish line, and near the food tent. A first-aid station near the main stage is staffed by a paramedic, and an on-call ambulance will be available.
Team participation is supported; teams require ten registered participants to qualify as a team. Packet pickup takes place at the GreatLIFE Fitness Club, and virtual participants receive their official race shirt by mail. The event site and routes are ADA-accessible.
