Crate Escape
Crate Escape is an inaugural men only, two mile, two man fun run held at Ballymena Rugby Club on 28 August 2026. Each pair carries a beer crate while running to raise funds and awareness for AWARE NI, a Northern Ireland depression charity.
The event is presented as a low pressure, side by side format intended to encourage men to talk about mental health. Entry is for male pairs only and entries are priced at £20 per person; the fee includes alcohol free beer and a BBQ. Entries open on 10 July 2026 and close on 27 August 2026.
Event features on the day include a kids colour run, music from a DJ and an event commentator, soft drinks supplied by Maine Mineral, and a planned ice cream van. The rugby club bar will be open late. Partners and supporters named for the event include Ballymena Runners, Ballymena Running Club, Ballymena Rugby Club, The Sober Irish, and Maine Soft Drinks. Maine Soft Drinks is noted as supplying the crates and fizzy drinks while The Sober Irish is supplying alcohol free beer for runners.
