Race Over the Glen : Event details
Race Over the Glen is scheduled for 1 January 2026 at Glenariff Forest Park, Ballymena, Antrim. It is a technical trail race over 10 kilometres organised by Ballymena Runners. Minimum age is 16 or older. The event asks entrants to already be able to run a continuous 10 km on the road and to be confident on technical terrain. Tail runners may advise participants to exit the course for safety; runners who are asked to exit should not cross the finish line and should speak to the race team to receive their medal.
Entries opened on 14 September 2025 and close on 26 December 2025. At the time of this listing there are 478 participants entered. Entry options and fees are: Affiliated Green £20.00, Non-Affiliated Green £22.50, Affiliated Standard £27.50, Non-Affiliated Standard £30.00. Green Entry includes a medal and chip timing. Standard Entry includes a medal, chip timing and a long-sleeved technical T-shirt celebrating 30 years of the event.
Entry, logistics and prizes
Pre-race registration is at Ballymena Bowling Club, Old Ballymoney Road, Ballymena on Sunday 28 December, 12:00–16:00. Race day registration is at the Glenariff Visitors Centre from 09:30–11:45. There are no refunds or deferrals; transfers and name changes can be made online until the entry closing date.
Parking information asks runners and visitors to consider car sharing. Parking is available at Ballee Park and Ride, ECOS Park, Ballymena Leisure Centre and additional spaces at Parkmore Forest - Touring in the Trees, which is opposite the Glenariff Forest main entrance and a short walk of about 10–15 minutes. A prize pot of over £1,000 is offered: open male and female prizes of £125, £100 and £75 for the first three; age-category prizes of £30; team prizes for top four club scores; and top junior male and female prizes of £30.
