Event overview
Race Over the Glen takes place on 1 January 2026 at Glenariff Forest Park, Ballymena, Antrim (BT44 0QX). The event is a technical trail race over 10 km that runs through Glenariff Forest Park and passes viewpoints and waterfalls. The minimum age for entry is 16 or older. Organisers describe the course as technical and advise that entrants should already be capable of running 10 km continuously on road and be confident on technical terrain.
Entries, logistics and prizes
Entries open 14 September 2025 and close 26 December 2025. Entries recorded so far total 751 participants. Entry categories and fees include: Affiliated Green Entry £20.00, Non-Affiliated Green Entry £22.50, Affiliated Standard Entry £27.50, Non-Affiliated Standard Entry £30.00. Green Entry includes a medal and chip timing. Standard Entry (closes 23 November) also includes a long-sleeved technical T-shirt celebrating 30 years of the race.
Pre-race registration is at Ballymena Bowling Club on 28 December (12:00-16:00). Race-day registration is at the Visitors Centre, Glenariff (09:30-11:45). There are no refunds or deferrals; transfers or name changes can be made online until the entry closing date. The prize fund exceeds £1,000 with cash prizes for open winners, age categories, team prizes (top four per club), and junior prizes. Prize giving may take place in a marquee and light refreshments will be provided, weather permitting.
Parking is available at Ballee Park and Ride, ECOS Park, Ballymena Leisure Centre and Parkmore Forest - Touring in the Trees. Organisers request car sharing and say marshals will direct parking.
