Event details
The Mathieson Cup and Shield XC takes place on 11 January 2026 at City of Belfast Mallusk Playing Fields, Park Road, Mallusk, BT36 4RH. Mallusk Harriers organise the event. It is part of the Athletics NI Cross Country League. The event is off-road and can include grass or muddy terrain with flat, hilly, or undulating sections. Entries recorded so far: 117 participants.

- Primary 5 - 7 boys - 800 m
- Primary 5 - 7 girls - 800 m
- U13 boys and girls - 2K
- U15 boys and girls - 4K
- U17 boys and girls - 6K
- Senior women and male vets (60+) - 6K
- Senior men - 8K
The male veteran race is run with the senior women race over 6K. Male athletes can enter from age 45, but veteran winners are declared only for age 60 and over. There are no age category winners for men below 60 in the vets race.
