Event overview
The Cragg Vale Christmas Score Event is an orienteering score event held on 20th December 2025 at Cragg Vale Church, near the Hinchliffe Arms. The competition runs for 90 minutes. It is a pre-entry only event. Entry fees are £10 for adults and £5 for children. All money raised goes to Cragg Church refurbishments.
Participants visit controls of their choice to collect points. Controls carry different point values. Points are deducted for finishing late and bonus points are awarded for early finishers. A compass is not compulsory, but participants will need to read an Ordnance Survey map. Entries can be made for solo competitors or pairs; groups of three require advance arrangement with the organiser. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
Practical information
The entry package includes a map, a bacon or vegan sausage bap, drinks, and prizes. The event uses a mass start from Cragg Church. Parking is on the main Cragg Road where parking is permitted; do not park where there is a continuous white line in the middle of the road. Entries close on 18th December.
