Spring Time Canal Canter
The Spring Time Canal Canter offers a series of races held along the Leeds to Liverpool Canal in Kirkstall. All routes follow an out and back format on an entirely flat course, consisting of good trail terrain. The event is licensed by the Trail Running Association under UKA Rules. Participants can choose from various distances:
- 10 km
- 10 Miles
- Half Marathon
- 20 Miles (consisting of 2 x 10 mile laps)
- Marathon (consisting of 2 x half marathon laps)
- Ultra Marathon (consisting of 2 x half marathon laps plus an additional 10 km)
The course is marshalled and signed throughout. Feed and drink stations are positioned approximately every three miles, offering water and food. The event follows a cup-less policy, and runners are advised to bring their own reusable bottles or cups. Finishers receive a bespoke medal and various edible treats.
Registration takes place on the morning of the event near the canal, where toilets are also located. Race bibs are distributed at this time. Participants can reach the venue via Headingley train station, which is served by the Northern Service. While there is no parking directly at the start and finish area, local parking is available nearby, including at the Kirkstall Morrisons.
For safety reasons, the use of large over-ear headphones is not permitted. Runners may use bone-conducting earphones or "one in one out" in-ear pieces to remain aware of marshals and other pathway users. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
