Event Overview
The Haworth Hobble is a 32-mile (51 km) trail event traversing the gritstone moors around Haworth, Todmorden, and Hebden Bridge. The 2026 edition on March 14th will be the 45th running of the race. The course features approximately 4,400 feet (1,340 m) of ascent and descent.
Course & Category
It is a fell race categorized as BL (Long). The route is mostly on trails and moors, with some exposed and remote sections. The event takes place on the edge of winter, with the expectation that participants have the skills for navigating and self-sufficiency in potentially wintry conditions. In exceptional circumstances, the organizers reserve the right to shorten the course to a 21-mile bad weather route.
Logistics
The mass start is at 8am from Haworth Primary School, with early starts available from 6:30am. The maximum time allowed is approximately 11 hours, with cut-off times at checkpoints. The minimum age for entry is 18, with eligibility requiring a 19th birthday by the end of the calendar year.
Kit & Support
Full Fell Runners Association (FRA) mandatory kit is required, plus additional items including a foil blanket or bivvy bag, water carrying capacity, and an extra long-sleeved thermal layer. There are six feed stations on the route offering basics like water, squash, chocolate, and fruit, with some stations also providing hot drinks and food like soup and hot dogs.
Additional Information
Organized recce runs are held on specified dates in December, January, and February to help participants learn the route. The entry fee for 2026 is £28.
