Punk Panther Welcome Way

Punk Panther Welcome Way is a trail race in Otley, West Yorkshire. The event is based around The Bridge Church on Cattle Market Street and uses Otley Cricket Club, Cross Green, as the registration and finish area. A car park near Bremner Street off the A659 Pool Road is used for event parking.

The course largely follows the Welcome Way, a circular trail that passes moorland, rivers, canals, reservoirs, farmland and woodland. Notable high points include Otley Chevin and Burley and Baildon moors. Distances offered are:

  • 50 miles

Climb across the courses ranges from 1360 to 6000 feet. ITRA and UTMB qualification points are allocated to the courses. Checkpoints provide water, coke, energy bars and crisps; runners who reach a checkpoint after it has closed will be retired.

Entries are limited to 200 entrants and the minimum age is 18 on event date. Ultramarathon entrants receive a tracker; half marathon and 20 mile entrants may hire a tracker for an additional fee. A mandatory kit list applies to all distances and random kit checks may take place; required items include a suitable bag, waterproof jacket, sufficient fluids, a cup, survival bivvy, whistle, hat, gloves, a hard copy map or route description and a mobile phone with organiser and medic numbers saved.
