Punk Panther Welcome Way
This trail race largely follows the Welcome Way, a circular trail through moorland, alongside rivers, canals and reservoirs, across farmland and through woodland. High points on the route include Otley Chevin and Burley and Baildon moors. Registration and finish are in Otley; final locations will be confirmed to competitors.
Distances offered include:
- 13 miles - Half Marathon
- 20 miles - Trail race
- 34 miles - Ultramarathon
- 50 miles - Ultramarathon
Total climb varies by distance: 1360 ft (13 miles), 2280 ft (20 miles), 4240 ft (34 miles), 6000 ft (50 miles). Checkpoints are positioned on the courses at Denton, Burley, Shipley Glen, The Chevin and Arthington Village Hall. Burley is a drink-only station. Competitors who reach a checkpoint after its closing time will be retired from the race.
All ultramarathon entrants are supplied with a tracker; half marathon and 20 mile entrants can hire a tracker for a fee. Trackers show runner positions on the official tracker screen and include an emergency button that, if used, ends the participant's race. The organiser will tape, flag or sign routes except for the 50 mile route; tape may be moved or removed, so map and route description should be used.
A mandatory kit list applies to all distances and random kit checks will be carried out; failure to carry required items may result in disqualification. The event has a maximum of 200 entrants, a minimum age of 18 and set entry open and close dates. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
