Event overview

Punk Panther Welcome Way is a trail race in Otley, West Yorkshire, held on 14 March 2026. The route largely follows the Welcome Way, a circular trail across moorland, alongside rivers, canals and reservoirs, across farmland and through woodland. High points on the routes include Otley Chevin and Burley and Baildon moors. The event is part of a race series (Race 3 of 10) and is one of four races in the 50 mile series. Minimum age is 18. Maximum entrants 200; entries were open from 31 July 2025 and close on 1 March 2026. Entries so far: 110 participants.

Course, distances and classification

Climb for each distance is listed at 1360, 2280, 4240 and 6000 feet respectively. ITRA points are 1 / 1 / 2 / 3 for the four distances. UTMB qualification codes are Q20K for the shorter distances and Q50K for the longer ones. GPX files and a route description are available from the event organiser and the final version will be emailed to competitors.

Logistics and safety

Registration is at Otley Cricket Club, Cross Green, Otley, LS21 1RB. The main car park is the Craftsman Tools Car Park at the end of Bremner Street off the A659 Pool Road, LS21 1JD. All ultramarathon entrants receive a tracker; half marathon and 20 mile runners may hire a tracker for £15. Routes will be taped or signed except the 50 mile route. A kit list applies to all distances and will be enforced via random on-course checks; required items include a waterproof jacket with taped seams, a survival/bivvy bag, whistle, cup, personal first aid, a hard copy map/route description, and head torch for the 50 mile course. Drop bags are permitted for the 50 mile race and will be transferred to a designated checkpoint. Finish is at Otley Cricket Club; finishers receive a medal and event T-shirt unless they opt out. Finish catering includes pie, cheese toasties and a 10-bean chilli suitable for vegan and gluten free. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
