About the race
The Cowtown C.A.L.F. Race is a community running event held on Saturday, October 3, 2026, in Fort Worth with the start and finish at Fort Worth City Hall (100 Fort Worth Trl., Fort Worth, Texas 76102). It is part of the Cowtown Marathon’s C.A.L.F. program, which was created in 2009 to introduce children to running and basic fitness concepts.
The event offers three distances:
- 1 Mile
- 5K
- 10K
The C.A.L.F. Program visits about 400 North Texas schools each year to teach running technique, resting heart rate, hydration, nutrition, and active living. Many children and families attend the race, and school teams often participate together. Proceeds support the C.A.L.F. Program, providing low-income children with a free pair of running shoes and fitness training.
Participants receive event apparel and finish items, including dry-fit and finisher shirts (10K shirts are gender specific), custom medals, and printable finisher certificates. The event includes on-course entertainment approximately every 1 to 1.5 miles, runner food, a pancake breakfast included with registration, children’s face painting, a DJ, and a post-race after-party with a live band and activities. Age-division medals are awarded in multiple youth and adult age groups for the 5K and 10K. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
