Courage Day 5K

Courage Day 5K is held on April 26, 2026, at Franklin Park in Purcellville, Virginia. The event includes a live 5K Run/Walk, a kids' Fun Run, a Tot Trot for toddlers, and a virtual 5K option. The course is on trails within Franklin Park, which encompasses more than 200 acres of rolling hills and offers views of the Blue Ridge Mountains; the trail is not paved and is described as not technical.

The event is organized to raise funds for The Courage Closet, a 501(c)(3) organization that supports survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence, and child abuse in Northern Virginia. Proceeds are directed to survivor services and to support the INOVA FACT department, including staffing, patient assistance, equipment maintenance, team resiliency, and professional development. Organizers note past virtual participants from locations as far as Kenya and Japan.

Race-day packet pickup is available before and on the event day, and mailing of packets is offered for virtual participants. Awards for the live 5K are given to the top three overall male and female finishers age 12 and over, and the top three boys and girls age 11 and under. The event grew from a family commemoration marked each April 17 in recognition of a survivor's recovery. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
