Cornwall's Backyard Ultra - Saturday 3 October 2026

Cornwall's Backyard Ultra is an open-ended loop running event held at St. Eval, Cornwall. The Race HQ is in a private field near St Eval Go Karts, with camping available on site from Friday evening until the last lap is completed. The event has a minimum age of 18 and entries open on 19 December 2025 with entries closing on 19 September 2026.

Course, format and rules

The event follows the Backyard Ultra format: one lap per hour, repeated until one person is the last to complete a loop. All other competitors are recorded as DNF. Key course and rule facts:

The course runs mainly on Cornish country lanes and includes a lap along part of the Coast Path at Bedruthan Steps. The organisers describe the route as more undulating than hilly. Each loop must be completed within an hour to count. Competitors must be in the starting corral at the bell and start each loop together. Personal aid is not allowed during a loop, artificial aids are prohibited, and no non-competitors are allowed on the course. Timing of loops is optional. Organisers require essential kit checks, including at minimum 2 litres of water, nutrition, a mobile phone, waterproofs, high-visibility clothing, and a head torch and rear light if running into darkness.
