Cornish Marathon : East Cornwall Harriers
The Cornish Marathon is Cornwall’s only all-road marathon and is scheduled for 1 November 2026. The race starts and finishes at the Millennium Centre in Pensilva and follows a scenic circular out-and-back route that passes through the Draynes Valley, across parts of Bodmin Moor, by Dozmary Pool and Jamaica Inn at Bolventor, and returns along the Fowey Valley.
The course has an elevation gain of approximately 2200 ft and includes a notable climb to Foredown between miles 24 and 25. Water stations are provided at miles 3, 6, 9, 14, 17, 21 and 24, with special drinks available at miles 14 and 21. The course measurement was renewed in 2023 and measurement details are recorded.
The event began in 1984, moved location in 1994 and later adopted the Pensilva start. Early fields numbered under a hundred runners; the event has since been organised by East Cornwall Harriers. A race cut-off of 6.5 hours will be in place for 2026 with course cut-off points and required times.
Entries are open for the 2026 race. Sponsorship packages and benefits are planned to be made available when entries open in May 2026. Results from recent years are kept as event records. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
