Races at Cornhill Highland Games

The Cornhill Highland Games programme includes several organised races held on public roads and local terrain. Distances on the programme include:

  • Knock Hill Race - 8.5 miles
  • 10k Road Race - 10 kilometres
  • Children's races - running and sack races for children

The Knock Hill Race began in 1970 as a fundraiser and became an annual event. The 2025 running will be the 53rd and final Knock Hill Race, having missed 2020 and 2021 because of Covid. The 10k road race was introduced in 2018. The Fernie Race will not take place this year.

Entry for the adult races requires advance online registration and payment. The minimum age to enter the adult races is 16 years. The entry fee is £15 and includes Games entry, race entry, a race medal and a goody bag. Children’s races are free to enter and take place in the arena, including running races for children up to 12 years and sack races for children aged 5 to 12 years.

Prize money is available for the adult races, with awards for the first three male and female finishers and an additional trophy for the first runner from the local parish in the Knock Hill Race. Races take place on public roads; participants are responsible for their own safety and must remain aware of other road users. No refunds are offered if an entrant is unable to run. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
