Races at Cornhill Highland Games

The Games programme includes two main adult races and children’s arena races. Both the Knock Hill Race and the 10k road race are scheduled as final events in 2025 due to declining participant numbers and safety considerations. Adult race entry requires advance online registration and payment. The adult race fee is £15 and includes Games entry, race entry, a race medal and a goody bag. Races take place on public roads; runners are responsible for their own safety and must remain aware of other road users. No refunds are available if an entered runner cannot participate.

Race details

  • 8.5 miles - Cornhill to the top of the Knock Hill and back.
  • 10k - road route from the Games field out of Cornhill to the bottom of the Knock Hill and back.

The Knock Hill Race began in 1970 and 2025 will be the 53rd and final running, having missed 2020 and 2021 due to Covid. The Knock Hill event awards a trophy to the first runner from the local parish. Prize money is offered for both adult races: 1st £50, 2nd £30, 3rd £15 for male and female categories.

Children’s arena races are free to enter and include running races for children up to 12 years and sack races for children aged 5 to 12 years. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
