Event Overview
The Concord California Turkey Trot is a community running event held on Thanksgiving at Newhall Park. The race serves as a fundraiser for Loaves and Fishes of Contra Costa. Participants navigate a course that features varied terrain, including grass fields, park pathways, and city streets. The event proceeds regardless of weather conditions, taking place rain or shine.
Participants can choose from the following distances:
- 3.1 miles (5K Run/Walk)
- 0.25 miles (Kids Run)
Participation Details
The 3.1 mile event is open to runners and walkers. All registered participants in this category receive a tech t-shirt and a medal. A special charity entry option is available, which includes a donation to Loaves and Fishes of Contra Costa and a branded long-sleeve tech t-shirt. For safety reasons, individuals with strollers or pets are required to enter the start area at the back. Children aged two and under may participate for free if they remain in a stroller throughout the duration of the event.
The Kids Run is designed specifically for children from walking age up to 8 years old. This untimed event follows a loop around the soccer field near the main start and finish area. Pets and strollers are not permitted on the Kids Run course. Every child participating in this distance receives a participant ribbon, and no performance-based awards are issued for this category.
Registration for the event is subject to a participant cap. The organizers maintain a policy of no refunds for any reason, including inclement weather, injuries, or personal emergencies. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
