Cold Turkey 5K and Little Turkeys Fun Run/Walk
The Cold Turkey 5K and Little Turkeys Fun Run/Walk is an annual sporting event held on Thanksgiving Day in Franklin, North Carolina. The event takes place at the Tassee Shelter located at 877 Ulco Drive. Now in its 12th year, the gathering serves as a fundraiser for the Special Olympics of Macon County, NC.
Participants can choose from the following distances:
- 5 km (timed and untimed options available)
- 1 mile (Little Turkeys Fun Run/Walk open to all ages)
The 5 km race has a one-hour time limit for completion. For the timed 5 km event, awards are presented to the first through third place overall male and female finishers, as well as the top three finishers in each age division.
The 1 mile Little Turkeys Fun Run/Walk is open to participants of all ages, though specific recognitions are noted for younger runners. Children aged 10 and under who participate in this distance receive a completion certificate or award.
Event shirts are provided to the first 200 pre-registered participants in the 5 km and the first 20 pre-registered participants in the 1 mile category. To be guaranteed a shirt, registration must be completed by November 9. Race packets, including bibs and shirts, are available for pickup at the Tassee Shelter on the afternoon before the race or on the morning of the event.
