Cherokee Turkey Strut 5K
The event offers two participation options: an on site 5K run at Kituwah Mound in Bryson City, NC, and a DIY virtual 5K that can be completed at any location. The on site event is hosted by Cherokee Choices and the course starts and finishes at Kituwah Mound.
Awards are given to the top three overall male and female finishers. Age group scoring awards are given to the top three male and female in these groups: 8 and under, 9 to 12, 13 to 16, 17 to 19, 20 to 25, 26 to 35, 36 to 45, 46 to 50, 51 to 60, and 61 and over.
Entry fees vary by participant: children 12 and under and elders 60 and over pay five dollars; adult entry is fifteen dollars with a higher fee after early registration ends. Donations of fifty dollars or more make entry free. One hundred percent of proceeds benefit Sunrise Community for Recovery and Wellness.
The DIY option allows participants to run or walk at any convenient time and place and to submit a time for inclusion in online results. Organizers collect DIY times over a mid to late November window. Participants registered for the on site 5K may switch to the DIY option.
