Appalachian 200 / 100

The event on March 10, 2027 takes place in Franklin, North Carolina and is organized by Run Bum. The course crosses three states with segments in Upstate South Carolina, Georgia, and North Carolina, and finishes back in North Carolina. The route uses several trails, including Foothills Trail, Palmetto, and Bartram. The race will donate trail work or funds to the trail associations that maintain these routes. The published route and a runners handbook will be provided prior to the race and may be subject to change.

Distances and basic format

  • 200 mile - point to point; 110 hour cutoff; 40,000 ft gain and loss; 10 to 14 aid stations.
  • 100 mile - first 100 miles of the 200; 39 hour cutoff; 20,000 ft gain and loss.

Both events require mandatory gear and a water filter. The 100 mile starts concurrently with the 200 on the same day. Finishers of either distance receive a finisher buckle; the registration fee covers entry and the finisher buckle only. Additional items are available for purchase. For the inaugural year, the field will likely be limited to 150 runners. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
