Appalachian 200 / 100, March 10, 2027
The Appalachian 200 Mile / 100 Mile run takes place in Franklin, NC and uses a multi-state route that travels from Upstate South Carolina into North Carolina into Georgia and returns to North Carolina. The course uses the Foothills Trail, Palmetto, and Bartram trails. Organizers plan donations or trail work for the trail associations that maintain those routes.
Event formats
- 200 mile: 110 hour cutoff, approximately 40,000 ft gain and 40,000 ft loss, point-to-point, 10 to 14 aid stations.
- 100 mile: the first 100 miles of the 200, 39 hour cutoff, approximately 20,000 ft gain and 20,000 ft loss, about 7 aid stations.
Both distances require mandatory gear and a water filter. Finishers of either race receive a finisher buckle; the registration fee covers race entry and the finisher buckle only. Additional items are available for purchase through the event store.
Year one entry is limited to 150 runners in total. The organizer states that all course details and the runners handbook will be posted before the race and that the route may be subject to change. The event notes a refund and deferral policy effective 8/25/2026 that generally does not allow refunds, transfers, credits, or deferrals except in limited circumstances, and that separate SPOT refund protection must be purchased at checkout.
