Event Overview

The Cobscook Bay Road Races in Pembroke, Maine, feature a 10k and 5k, with separate run and walk categories for each distance. There is also a free Kids Fun Run. The 2026 edition marks 34 years of the event.

Course and Format

The in-person 10k and 5k races take place on a course along the shores of Cobscook Bay. The 10k course is USATF-certified (certificate ME17004JK). The course is paved and gravel, starting near Route 1 in Pembroke and finishing at Reversing Falls.

Participants have three participation options:

  • In-person race on Sunday, June 7, 2026.
  • Run on Your Own (ROYO) on the official course between Saturday, May 29 and June 7.
  • A virtual option to complete a distance from any location.

For the in-person and ROYO options, participants submit a time and a photo of their run or walk.

Schedule and Logistics

On race day, packet pickup and registration are at the Pembroke Triangle from 7:30 AM to 8:45 AM. The Kids Fun Run starts at 8:30 AM. The 5k and 10k races start at 9:00 AM. An awards ceremony is scheduled for approximately 10:45 AM at the finish line at Reversing Falls. A picnic follows the races.

Registration

Online registration opens on January 1, 2026, at 7:00 AM EST and closes on June 6, 2026, at 5:00 PM. The entry fee for the in-person 5k and 10k events is $25. The virtual 5k and 10k events cost $28. The Kids Fun Run is free.

Awards

Awards are given for the 5k and 10k races. They include top three overall male, female, and non-binary finishers. Age group awards are given to the top finisher if under 150 participants, or top three if over 150 participants. There are also awards for the first male, female, and non-binary walkers, and for the first Pembroke resident.

Community and Charity

The event is organized by Bold Coast Runners. Proceeds from the races support Down East Hospice Volunteers, a local organization providing cost-free comfort care. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
