Event Overview
The Cobscook Bay Road Races represent a long-standing tradition of running and walking events in Pembroke, Maine. Celebrating its 34th year, the event takes place along the shores of Cobscook Bay. Organized by the Bold Coast Runners, the races support Down East Hospice Volunteers. The in-person routes transition from the Pembroke Triangle to Reversing Falls, where a communal picnic is held following the activities.
Distances and Course Information
Participants can choose from several distances and participation methods:
- 10k Run: A 6.2 mile race on a USATF certified course.
- 10k Walk: A 6.2 mile walking event following the same certified route.
- 5k Run: A 3.1 mile running event.
- 5k Walk: A 3.1 mile walking event.
- Kids Fun Run: A free 1/2 mile run for children aged 12 and under.
Virtual and Independent Options
For those unable to attend on the specific event date, alternative options are provided. A "Run on Your Own" format allows individuals to complete the marked course at Cobscook Bay between May 29 and June 7. Additionally, a virtual option is available for participants to run or walk a 5k or 10k at any safe location of their choice.
Awards and Recognition
Awards are presented at Reversing Falls after the final finisher. Categories include the top three overall male, female, and non-binary participants. Age group awards are provided for various brackets ranging from 14 and under to 75 and over. Special recognition is also given to the first-place male, female, and non-binary walkers, as well as the first finishing Pembroke resident.
