Coasties 5km, Orewa New Zealand
Coasties 5km is a running event held in Orewa, New Zealand, organised by Hot Chilli Events Limited. The event is based at the Orewa Surf Club on the water's edge and is scheduled as a weekly Wednesday gathering with a social running atmosphere.
The course is a 2.5 km out and back route that incorporates the boardwalk, giving a total distance of 5 km. The event uses a mass start format and the posted start list shows three racers at the time of the latest update.
Entry requires a fee of $14 and registration accepts cash or eftpos. Organisers recommend headtorches or lights while lighting works are coordinated with the local council.
After the run participants may hand their race bib to the bar to receive a complimentary drink, and placed bibs are used for spot prize draws. Prizes are also awarded to the top three men and top three women. Race results are published on Webscorer and distributed via the event newsletter.
