Family Tough Guy and Gal Challenge - Kumeu
The Family Tough Guy and Gal Challenge is a family team obstacle event at Kumeu Showgrounds, West Auckland, held on Sunday 09th August 2026. The course is approximately 3 km, with course lengths and terrain varying by venue; organisers equate running time to a flat 3 km cross country course rather than a precise measured distance.
Teams are either two or three people and must include at least one adult. A 2 person team consists of one adult aged 18 or older plus one child aged 5 to 17. A 3 person team may include one or two adults and one or two children aged 5 to 17. A maximum ratio of one adult to two children applies.
The course contains family friendly obstacles and classic challenges such as mud pits, climbing walls and crawling tunnels across farmland and natural bushland. Covered shoes are compulsory; football or rugby boots with moulded studs are allowed but running spikes and boots with aluminium studs are not permitted.
Facilities at Kumeu Showgrounds include hot showers, toilets, changing rooms, covered gathering areas, free parking, hot food and coffee for sale, and first aid support. Every entrant receives a finishers medal and a downloadable certificate. No dogs are allowed at the venue.
