Family Tough Guy & Gal Challenge - Kumeu
The Family Tough Guy and Gal Challenge in Kumeu, West Auckland, is a family obstacle event held on Sunday 09 August 2026 at the Kumeu Showgrounds. The course is approximately 3 km; because venue terrain and obstacles vary, organisers equate the fastest time to a flat 3 km cross-country course so some venues may be shorter in distance but equivalent in time.
Teams are two- or three-person family combinations with a maximum ratio of one adult (18+) to two children (5–17). A 2-person team must include one adult and one child. A 3-person team may include one or two adults and one or two children. Personalised race numbers can be printed if entries are submitted at least three weeks before the event.
The course includes family-friendly and classic obstacles such as mud pits, climbing walls, and crawling tunnels across farmland and natural bushland. Covered shoes are compulsory; football or rugby boots with moulded studs are allowed, while running spikes or boots with aluminium studs are not. Hot showers, parking, toilets, changing rooms, covered gathering areas, first aid support, and food and drinks for purchase are available at the venue.
Every finisher receives a medal and a downloadable certificate. There are no merit prizes, though spot prizes are drawn at prize-giving and must be collected in person. Dogs are not permitted on site. Entry places are limited and entry fees are tiered for 2- and 3-person teams, with early, standard, late, and event-day rates.
