Clonliffe 2 Mile Road Race and Glasnevin Fun Run 2026
The Clonliffe 2 Mile Road Race and Glasnevin Fun Run is a historic running event in Dublin. Established in 1891, it is the oldest continuous road race in Ireland and one of the oldest in the world. Originally a club race, it later became an invitational and eventually an open road race and fun run. The 2026 edition marks the 135th consecutive running of the event.
The course covers a distance of 2 miles. The race starts adjacent to Met Eireann on the Old Finglas Road in Glasnevin and finishes at the Gravediggers Pub in Prospect Square. Participants receive a commemorative tee shirt, and the race utilizes chip timing for results.
Registration is open to both senior and junior runners. Check-in and number collection are available the evening before the race at the Clonliffe Harriers Clubhouse in Morton Stadium, or on the day of the event at St Vincent's CBS School Gym near Harts Corner. The school is located approximately a 10-minute walk from the starting line and is accessible via several public bus routes, including numbers 4, 9, 40, 140, 155, and E2.
The event features individual prizes for various categories:
- 2 Miles (Senior and Junior men and women, Masters)
Prizes are awarded to the first, second, and third place finishers in the senior and junior categories, as well as the winner of each Masters category. The race is sponsored by the Kavanagh family of the Gravediggers Pub. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
