Cleveland Liver Walk
The Cleveland Liver Walk is an annual event held at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo. This event serves as a platform to support individuals living with liver disease in the local community. Organized by the Northeast Ohio Liver Alliance, the walk brings together patients, families, caregivers, and healthcare professionals to raise awareness and funds for liver health programs.
The event features two distinct distances for participants:
- 3.1 Miles (5K Walk)
- 1 Mile (Fun Walk)
Participants gather at the zoo for the walking events and later transition to the Palava Hut Pavilion for a closing ceremony. This ceremony includes recognition for teams and individuals as well as prizes. Additionally, a Health Expo is available at the pavilion following the walk, providing resources and information related to liver health and wellness.
The funds generated through this event remain in Ohio. These resources are utilized by the Northeast Ohio Liver Alliance to support community-based education for both the public and medical professionals. The organization also focuses on advocating for policy changes and funding research and public health interventions that benefit those affected by liver disease.
Registration for the walk includes entry to the event, a dedicated event t-shirt, and admission to the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo and Rainforest for the remainder of the day. Equipment and packet pickup are managed on site on the morning of the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
