Event overview
The Clemson 8 Challenge is an in-person and virtual multi-activity event held in March 2026. The in-person edition takes place on Sat., March 7, 2026, with a virtual challenge offered from March 7–14, 2026; high school JROTC teams have until April 9, 2026 to complete their challenge. Activities accepted for the virtual challenge include running, walking, biking, hiking, swimming, or skiing. The event is open to the general public.

- 8 K or 8 mile - Race Day (general public and college students/younger)
- 8 mile - Race Day 35-lb ROTC Ruckers
- 8 mile Relay Virtual Challenge - High School JROTC/P.E. class
- 8, 14.2 & 26.2 mile - Virtual - General public
Course and logistics
The Start/Finish line is at Military Heritage Plaza next to Tillman Hall, overlooking Bowman Field and downtown Clemson. The proposed campus course follows Calhoun Drive, Hwy. 93, Hwy. 76, Perimeter Road and includes two laps around Bowman Field. Participants are asked to stay on sidewalks and follow pedestrian laws at roadway crossings. Participants who cannot run the full campus course may circle Bowman Field. Water and portable restrooms are available at the Start/Finish and at the 2.3/6.0 mile mark.
Registration items and purpose
Participant packets include a 100% cotton Comfort Colors t-shirt, a wooden nickel, a race bib, and a window decal. The first 500 participants are guaranteed a race bib unless registered as part of a high school team. High schools receive a 2' x 3' race banner as part of registration. One hundred percent of proceeds benefit Clemson University military-affiliated student organizations; prior editions raised $126,436.34 and the 2026 goal is $19,420.
