The Classic at Mastick
The Classic at Mastick is an annual running event held at the South Mastick Picnic Area in Fairview Park, Ohio. Established in 1992, the event celebrates the start of the cross country season and serves as a fundraiser for student scholarships. To date, the race has raised over $320,000 for high school seniors to assist with post-secondary expenses.
The event is open to participants of all ages and abilities. To maintain a non-interscholastic nature, school uniforms are not permitted to be worn before, during, or after the run. Registration and packet pick-up are handled on an individual basis rather than through school teams.
The race offerings include:
- 5 km (separate divisions for men and women)
- 2 mile run (restricted to participants aged 14 and under)
The 5 km races are chip-timed, and awards are presented to overall winners and age group leaders. Participants receive a soft-fit shirt and may take part in pre- and post-race activities. Packet pick-up is available in the days leading up to the event at a local running store in Lakewood, as well as at the South Mastick Picnic Area pavilion on the day of the race.
