Events
The Clark Lake Run features four events:
- 12k Run
- 5k Run
- 5k Walk
- 3/4k Kids Fun Run
History and Charitable Purpose
This event marks its 51st year. It began in 1976 as a 7-mile race around Clark Lake. In 1993, the main distance changed to 12k, and a 5k Run, 5k Walk, and a kids run were added. Race proceeds support the maintenance of the Thomas R. Collins Memorial Spirit Trail.
Course and Location
The course takes participants around Clark Lake on gently rolling hills with views of the lakefront. The post-race party and award ceremony are held at the Beach Bar Patio on the shore. The event takes place at 3509 Ocean Beach Road in Clark Lake, Michigan.
Awards and Timing
The event places a special emphasis on the 12k race with added prize money. Cash awards are offered for top overall and Masters finishers, as well as for course and age group records in the 12k and 5k runs. Age group awards are given for the top three finishers in many categories for the 12k Run, 5k Run, and 5k Walk. The race is professionally timed by the Michigan Running Foundation, and chip times are texted to participants.
Registration and Logistics
Packet pickup and in-person registration are available the day before the race at the Beach Bar. Race day registration is also available. Online registration is encouraged and remains open until the Thursday before the race. A 90-minute (12-minute per mile) time limit is enforced for the 12k Run, and participants must be at least 12 years old to enter that event. The Kids Fun Run is for ages 11 and under. Dogs are not permitted at the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
