City of Lakes Half Marathon
The Jeff Winter City of Lakes Half Marathon is a USATF Minnesota Half Marathon Championship held in South Minneapolis. The course circles Lake Harriet and Bde Maka Ska and has been organized for over 60 years. The event on Sunday, September 13, 2026, is limited to 1,800 participants and takes place at Beard's Plaisance, Minneapolis, MN.
Race details
The course is USATF certified and described as flat. Aid stations are provided every 5k. Pacers are available for goal finishing times from 1:30 to 3:00. Race-day packet pick-up is located near the tennis courts at Beard’s Plaisance, near 44th and Lake Parkway West.
Finishers receive a pint glass and free race photos are available for download if the bib number is visible. Cash prizes are awarded to the top three overall finishers in the men’s, women’s, and non-binary categories; awards are based on gun time and follow USATF rules. Fundraising entries are available through the charity partner Mile in My Shoes, which provides complementary entries to fund-raisers. A limited number of elite entries are offered to athletes who meet the published time standards within the past year. Sponsors and retail partners support the event.
