Event overview
The Jeff Winter City of Lakes Half Marathon is the USATF Minnesota Half Marathon Championship held in South Minneapolis. The 2026 race takes place on September 13, 2026, at Beard's Plaisance. The event circles Lake Harriet and Bde Maka Ska and has been staged for more than 60 years.
Course and logistics
The course is USATF certified and described as flat and fast, following parkways around the lakes. Registration is limited to 1,800 participants. Packet pick-up is located near the tennis courts at Beard's Plaisance, near 44th and Lake Parkway West. Hydration stations are provided approximately every 5k. Free race photos will be available for download when bibs are visible, and finishers receive a pint glass. Pacers are offered for a range of target finishing times.
Competition and awards
Cash prizes are awarded to the top three overall finishers in the men’s, women’s, and non-binary categories. All awards are based on Gun Time and follow USATF rules. Limited elite entries are available for runners who meet published time standards for the event.
