City of Lakes Half Marathon
The City of Lakes Half Marathon is the USATF Minnesota Half Marathon Championship held in South Minneapolis. The USATF certified course circles Lake Harriet and Bde Maka Ska and is described as flat and fast. The event has been held for over 60 years and takes place at Beard's Plaisance, 4525 Upton Ave S, Minneapolis.
The race includes hydration stations approximately every 5k and pacers set for goal finishing times from 1:30 to 3:00. Participants receive free race photos and a finisher pint glass. Awards with cash prizes are given to the top three overall finishers in men, women, and non binary categories, and all awards follow USATF competition rules. Elite entry standards are listed for recent performances and complementary elite entries are limited. The event partners with local nonprofits including Mile in My Shoes, which offers complementary entries to fundraisers. Packet pick up is located near the tennis courts at Beard's Plaisance.
